Getting verified as a contractor

Last updated July 1, 2026

Verification is the gate before bidding: you can browse the board immediately, but you cannot unlock documents, declare intent or bid until you’re verified. It exists so clients can trust that every bidder is a real, insured business.

The steps

  1. Confirm your email. The verification-upload page stays locked until you click the link we email you at signup.
  2. Upload your documents on the verification page — PDF or photo, up to 8 MB each. You can send them over several visits, and re-uploading a type replaces the old copy.
  3. Your status becomes pending and our team is notified.
  4. An admin reviews each document against a checklist and validates you — typically within one business day.
  5. You get a “You’re verified” notification and full bidding access.

The documents we review

  • Government photo ID (e.g. driver’s licence) — identity.
  • Proof of address — a recent utility bill or invoice.
  • Liability insurance — your commercial general liability (CGL) certificate.
  • WSIB / workers’ compensation clearance — or a signed exemption note if exempt.
  • Trade licence / Certificate of Qualification — where your trade is licensed.

If a document can’t be accepted (blurry, expired), we’ll ask you to re-upload a clearer or current copy — you aren’t sent to the back of the queue.
