Buying on the Marketplace is free to browse and free to engage — you only ever pay for the item itself (plus your provincial sales tax), and every seller is a real, identity-verified account. Buyers never pay a sale fee.

Ways to buy

• Buy now — purchase a fixed-price item instantly through secure checkout.
• Make an offer — send the seller a price to accept, decline or counter (free).
• Bid in an auction — bid against a live countdown; the high bid wins at close. Your first 10 auction bids are free, then each is a flat 25¢ — see Your marketplace bidding wallet.
• Request a quote — send a “Get it quoted” item or a Wanted ad to verified pros for a price.

Browsing, watching, following a seller, making offers and (once you’ve bid or offered) messaging are all free.

A card on file

To check out you’ll need a card on file, saved securely with Stripe — QuoteHive only stores the card’s brand and last four digits, never the full number. See Payment methods & your card on file.

Buyer protection & verified sellers

You pay securely through the platform — never card-to-hand. Every order has a record and a receipt, and you can open a dispute if an item isn’t as described. Every seller is identity-verified and carries a public rating and history from past buyers, so you know who you’re dealing with before you pay.

Delivered & installed by verified contractors

This is what sets QuoteHive apart from plain classifieds: once an item is yours — you bought it, won the auction, or had your offer accepted — the listing shows Request delivery or install, and tapping it posts a real job to QuoteHive’s verified contractors, who bid on the work — see how bidding works. (Before you own it, the button is shown but locked.) Bought a vanity? Get it installed. Bought pallets of tile? Get them hauled and laid.

Before you buy, every buy or auction listing shows a non-binding delivery & install estimate — a typical price range within ~50 km — so you know roughly what it’ll cost to get the item home or set up. It’s only an estimate and spawns no job; the firm quote comes from verified pros once the item is yours.
